Ruiz Law attorneys recently represented Peralta Community College District in a complex disability discrimination lawsuit by a former dean who alleged that the College District failed to accommodate her disability and failed to participate in an interactive process to determine appropriate accommodations. After a month long jury trial, Ruiz Law attorneys successfully obtained a jury verdict in the College District’s favor and a judgment against the former dean.
Ruiz Law attorneys are proactive in advising and training higher education institutions in all areas of education, employment, and labor law. Our attorneys are familiar with the unique regulatory and institutional frame works of California community college districts, the State of California university system, and private institutions. In addition, our attorneys have advised public colleges in the areas of master plans and related real property considerations, mechanisms for increasing student diversity post-Proposition 209, and public contracting issues.
